When a 40-foot container dropped from the Ojuelegba Bridge on Sunday and struck a Toyota Corolla inside a stadium on Funsho Williams Avenue in Surulere, Lagos, three people narrowly avoided death.
The police and other emergency responders saved the people inside the car, according to Adebayo Taofiq, director of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority’s (LASTMA) Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, who made this information public to journalists.
Only one of the three people inside the stranded car, in his account, was unharmed and let to leave right away.
“Traffic Officer Olajide Olukoga ‘Bravo’ who oversaw the LASTMA rescue efforts at the scene of the accident confirmed that a 40-foot container fell on top of a Toyota Corolla car (JJJ 811 FB) at the top of the Ojuelegba bridge inside the stadium,” he said.
“An ambulance from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) transported the two remaining rescued victims—an adult male and a female—to the hospital.
