On Thursday, September 7, agents of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency found Asana Leke, 39, along the Mokwa-Jebba Road with no less than 399 fragments of improvised explosive devices.

The artifacts and the suspect were then given to the military authorities in Niger State. The suspect said that the explosives were given to him in a park in Ibadan, Oyo State, to be conveyed to someone in Kaduna.

The NDLEA state commands and other formations continued the anti-narcotics agency’s fight against drug misuse advocacy campaigns in schools, places of worship, palaces, and local communities among other places, in addition to the different drug control initiatives.

In the meantime, on September 4, NDLEA agents stormed the residence of reputed drug lord Abdul Rauf, also known as “Na God,” in Akala, Mushin, Lagos. During the raid, 1,101kg of Ghanaian Loud was found and three suspects were detained, but the desired kingpin is still at large.

A follow-up operation in Ogun State resulted in the capture of Yinka Azeez at Sabo Lafenwa, Abeokuta on Tuesday, September 5, after Titilayo Adetayo’s 41kg of cannabis had been found at Sagumu Interchange the day before.

Additionally, at least two suspects, Muhammad Aliyu, 38, and Abdullahi Zakariya, 40, were detained on September 5 with more than 426.5 kilograms of skunk on Zaria-Kano Road and Haye Arewa, Hotoro, Kano, respectively.

While Destiny Irabor, another suspect, was taken into custody on Friday, September 8, with more than 180kg of opiates loaded in his Toyota Sienna bus, Onyeka Uzor, 25, was taken into custody at Idemili, Anambra State, with 64.8kg of skunk and Tramadol.

On Wednesday, September 6, two suspects, Ahmed Yusuf and Rilwan Nura, were detained in Kaduna in connection with the discovery of 100 blocks of marijuana totaling 55kg along Abuja Road.

The Ekudo forest in Onwude Local Government Area in Edo State was invaded by NDLEA agents who destroyed cannabis plantations totaling 4.236347 hectares there.

In a similar vein, on September 7, agents raided the home of Amuodu Egwehide, 40, in Iloje Okpuje, Owan West LGA, where they found 22 bags of skunk weighing 261.4kg. The same day, Mrs. Eunice Egwehide, a 60-year-old grandmother, was detained in the town with 17kg of the same substance seized from her.

Gapchiya Modu, a suspect, was detained on Wednesday, September 6 with 60 kg of cannabis along the Kano-Nguru Road in Nguru, Yobe State, while Usim Orji, a suspect, was found with 200 blocks of the same material and 57 kg of weight along the Aba-Owerri Road in Imo State.

Idoko Ifesinachi, a wanted kingpin, was captured by NDLEA agents on September 6 after more than two months of monitoring.
