Benjamin Mendy, A Former Man City football Player, Was Found Not Rape Guilty.

Benjamin Mendy, a former Man City football player, was found not rape guilty.

The 28-year-old was charged with assaulting a 24-year-old lady in October 2020 at his £4 million property in Mottram St Andrew, Cheshire.

Another woman, age 29, who claimed he had previously assaulted her at his home two years prior, was also accused of being attempted raped by Mr. Mendy.

It follows a trial in January where he was exonerated of six rape charges.

After a three-week trial at Chester Crown Court, the France international sobbed as the jury’s not guilty findings were announced.

Before coming to a decision, the jury of six men and six women pondered for almost three hours and fifteen minutes.

Mr. Mendy is entitled to be released from the dock, the judge Steven Everett declared.

In an earlier trial, the football player, whose contract with Manchester City expired this month, was found not guilty of six charges of rape and one count of sexual assault involving four underage girls or teens.

A retrial was necessary because the jury was unable to reach a verdict on two charges of attempted and actual rape.

The prosecutor, Benjamin Aina KC, alleged that due to his celebrity profile and riches, he had liked hosting parties at his home and had “taken advantage” of female guests on two separate occasions.According to testimony given at the trial, the first complainant, lady A, a 29-year-old student, first saw Mr. Mendy in a Barcelona nightclub in late 2017 and had a sexual relationship with one of his acquaintances.

They stayed in touch, and a year later she planned a visit to Mr. Mendy’s friend’s place, where they had all slept after spending the night out with other girls.

The woman testified to the jury that Mr. Mendy showed there uninvited and in only boxer shorts the morning after, and he was clearly “aroused” as she took a shower in the en-suite bathroom.

She claimed that after repeatedly urging Mr. Mendy to stop, he seized her and tried to rape her on the bed.

The two were “flirting” throughout their night out, Mr. Mendy claimed to the jury, and when he went to her room the following morning, they started cuddling on a bed.

He claimed she told him she was with his friend and wouldn’t have sex with him.

Then, according to Mr. Mendy, she became agitated when he informed her that he had already asked his friend, who had assured him that everything would be “OK”.

He denied making an attempt at rape.

In 2019, a second complainant, lady B, said in court that she was out with friends at a bar in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, not far from Mr. Mendy’s residence, when they received an invitation to return to the football player’s home.

The 24-year-old claimed that Mr. Mendy seized her phone, which was loaded with “intimate” pictures, and escorted her to his locked bedroom as she begged for her phone back.

She told the jury Mr Mendy told her “I just wanna have a look at you” and told her to take her clothes off, which she did.

She claimed that despite telling him she didn’t want sex, he raped her when she attempted to get her phone after he threw it on the bed.

The woman testified at the trial that Mr. Mendy had whispered to her subsequently, “You’re too bashful. It’s okay. I’ve had relationships with 10,000 women.

In his testimony to the jury, Mr. Mendy denied raping the victim and stated that they had exchanged contact information to connect on Snapchat after they had agreed to “play around” on the bed.

Mr. Aina, the prosecutor, asserted that Mr. Mendy was unaccustomed to women rejecting him.

“You wanted women who came to your house to party, get drunk, and have sex?” he questioned.

If they desire, Mr. Mendy retorted.

“I will never coerce a woman into having sex with me.”

Benjamin Mendy would like to thank the jury members for focusing on the evidence in this trial rather than on the rumor and speculation that have accompanied this case from the beginning, said his attorney Jenny Wiltshire after the hearing.

“Mr. Mendy has been tried twice and found not guilty both times by a jury. He is happy that both juries rendered the right decisions.

She said Mr Mendy had “tried to remain strong” but the process had “inevitably had a serious impact on him”.

He now wanted to ask for his privacy to be respected “so he can begin rebuilding his life,” Ms Wiltshire added.
