Due to a day five washout on Sunday at Old Trafford, Australia won the trophy by a score of 2-1 going into the final Test at The Oval.
Before the rain dashed their aspirations, England had a good chance to win the fourth Test.
Due to the rain, Green said it was a “weird feeling” to have the Ashes in an empty field.
There’s no use disputing it. Cricket is a funny game, but England controlled this one even when we were trailing and anything might have occurred.”At the moment, I get a strange sense. We will be pleased with our progress when we look back.
In three games of this Ashes series, Green has scored 103 runs at 20.60 with a top score of 38 over six innings. He has bowled 45.4 overs with an economy rate of 5.14 and has taken five wickets at 47.
However, with Mitch Marsh, a fellow all-rounder, playing well since his recall and Australia considering Todd Murphy, a spinner, for The Oval, Green’s position could be in jeopardy for the fifth Test.
“There was obviously some back-and-forth between me and Todd for the fourth Test,” continued Green. An advantage to having strong competition for positions is always present. The outcome of the upcoming game will have to be anticipated.
