Before The Upcoming Season, Liverpool Captain Virgil Van Dijk “Understands Doubts”

Before the upcoming season, Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk understands doubts

This summer, six senior players left Anfield, including Van Dijk’s predecessor as captain, Jordan Henderson.

The preseason has had mixed results, and despite three unsuccessful attempts to sign Southampton’s Romeo Lavia, a defensive midfielder has still not been acquired.

Although I’m not a really negative guy, I can definitely understand it [fans’ hostility] in some respects, Van Dijk added.

However, it is evident when a large number of players depart that your captain and vice-captain will also depart, and there are currently only two new players.

“And I can understand some people having doubts because of the way we have been playing, which has been really good in possession but not so good defensively when you allow goals to be scored.”

The Reds are now short on players in the middle of the field due to the exits of Henderson, Fabinho, Naby Keita, James Milner, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Due to injuries, Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic have not played since last season. Jurgen Klopp has used Cody Gakpo in midfield during preseason to make up for the absence of other players. The 32-year-old Dutch defender Van Dijk said Liverpool’s players would be committed to competing for championships this year but recognized the difficulty of the task.

When considering the teams around us, he continued, “It will be very difficult, but we want to be up there again and challenging.”

“We must have confidence; we should have confidence and continue to study every single day. Characters and participants that were key to the success have left, but others now need to step up.

“In my view, that’s a good challenge. We must feel enthusiastic. Let’s do this since I’m eager to try it.

Liverpool has once again been let down by FSG.

17 Premier League clubs have acquired more players than the Reds throughout the summer, which was intended to be the most significant reconstruction of their era.

There have been no seasoned defensive midfielders brought in since Jordan Henderson and Fabinho left. No defenders have signed either, despite the disastrous preseason defense.

Alexis Mac Allister and Dom Szoboszlai are intriguing purchases, and Jurgen Klopp has some fantastic strikers, but it is far from enough. Now, we’re hurriedly trying to acclimate overpriced players who won’t profit from the preseason.
