According to Dr. Femi Majekodunmi, the chairman of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board, over 360 projects across the state’s three senatorial districts have started construction or repair.
In a statement from the agency’s press officer, Tolu Ogunjimi, it was stated that the chairman was described as having made this remark during a brief conversation with newsmen on Wednesday in Abeokuta.
He explained that the projects will be completed within three months and would be carried out using the 2018-2019 Intervention Project Fund made available by the state and federal governments.
According to Majekodunmi, the shortlisted contractors have received letters of award of contract to begin the projects. She added that the project would include, among other necessary elements, the construction and renovation of classrooms, restroom facilities, borehole installations, supply of furniture, and e-library materials.
Majekodunmi noted that in recent years, the teaching of agriculture as a subject had been predominantly theoretical and less practical. She claimed that the theoretical-based approach leaves the majority of learners unaware of what some agricultural products look like and with no idea of how they are grown, harvested, processed, or stored. Majekodunmi was speaking at an advocacy meeting of the Agriculture Education Training Programme at the Nigeria Union of Teachers’ Hall, Kuto, Abeokuta, the state capital.
