Following the tribunal decision that resulted in the resignation of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, military forces were sent to the streets of Kano on Thursday to enforce the 24-hour curfew that had been imposed on the city by the state administration.

According to a News Direct investigation, members of the Nigeria Police Force’s mobile police unit and other sister security organizations were also sent to enforce the curfew.

While some military forces were seen along the Airport Road axis, other military men were patrolling near the city’s hot spots.

Violators were either arrested at checkpoints or made to end their journey and head back home at a number of checkpoints throughout the city.

While major markets, offices, and other corporate locations were under lock and key, most residents remained at home or in residential neighborhoods.

With the exception of a few reported altercations and raucous celebrations in some areas following the decision on Wednesday, the majority of the city has been calm and tranquil.
