A repentant Boko Haram member named Musa Dauda has been detained by police in Borno. He is accused of killing and burying his ex-wife, Hafsat Musa, at a farm near the Muhammad Goni stadium in Maiduguri.
According to the police, the suspect admitted to committing the crime after his arrest on September 21st.
According to ASP Sani Kamilu, the police spokesman for Borno, Dauda invited 45-year-old Hafsat to meet with him on her farm on the stadium grounds on September 12.
Kamilu reported that after accepting the offer, Hafsat was nowhere to be seen.
According to him, the police responded quickly, arrived at the scene, and transported Hafsat’s body to the Umaru Shehu Ultramodern Hospital in Maiduguri for an autopsy.
Kamilu added that Dauda admitted to committing the act after being detained on Thursday, September 21.
He continued by saying that Dauda claimed to have seen Hafsat on the property with another person. He then hit her in the head with a hoe before she collapsed and passed away.
Later, according to Kamilu, Dauda burried Hafsat on the property and ran away.
