Dr. Maxwell Ayim, who had been kidnapped, has been freed by members of the 103 Battalion (Rear) of the 82nd Division of the Nigerian Army, who are currently engaged in Operation UDO KA II.
According to a statement made on Friday by Lieutenant Colonel Jonah Unuakhalu, the acting deputy director of army public relations for the 82nd Division of the Nigerian Army, the operation’s rescue came after a shootout between the soldiers and the assailants.
Unuakhalu added that on Thursday, the soldiers stationed at the Udi checkpoint received a distress call on the attackers’ activity. He claimed that after the call was made, the army arrived quickly and engaged the kidnappers in a gunfight.
