In response to allegations that the federal government has increased the salaries of lecturers by 35%, the Academic Staff Union of Universities, or ASUU, has spoken out.
According to ASUU, it has not been informed of any wage increases that the federal government has provided to academics at federal institutions.
This was said by the National President, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, in an interview with a reporter on Friday.
He was responding to an announcement made about the raise by the Office of the Auditor General of the Federation.
But Dr. Niyi Sunmonu, national president of CONUA, the Congress of University Academics, claimed to be aware of the circular.
Although the pay increase was insufficient, he said, his union would not oppose it.
