Four children who had been forcibly abducted from their mother and placed behind bars for nine months have been recovered by security personnel under the direction of members of the Anambra State Ministry of Women and Social Welfare.
The Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, and Chidinma Ikeanyionwu, her media assistant, informed the media of this in a press release on Saturday.
After their mother, Chinenye Orajiaka, lodged a complaint with the ministry, the kids were rescued on Friday at Onitsha’s Worliwor community.
After separating from her husband, Orajiaka claimed that her sister-in-law, Ndidi Orajiaka, had forcibly taken her children into custody and denied her access to them.
According to the statement, it was challenging to rescue the kids because they were locked up in a room when security personnel raided the scene.
