The governor of Sokoto State, Dr. Ahmed Aliyu, has praised the decision made by the tribunal hearing the governorship election petition that confirmed his victory in the state’s election.
The governor highlighted that the striking out of all six grounds that the Peoples Democratic Party in the state had submitted to the tribunal was obvious evidence that they had no legitimate case, according to a statement made available to newsmen by media assistant Abubakar Bawa.
The verdict “is a clear testimony of the fact that the nation’s judiciary remains impartial, describing the verdict as a welcome development for people of the state and all lovers of democracy within and outside of Nigeria,” the statement reads.
In the meantime, the governor urged the state’s opposition to work with his government to advance the state, declaring that patriotism should now serve as the primary motivator for advancing the socioeconomic growth of the state.
He also cautioned the opposition that 2027 is not far away and that they should brace themselves for the next conflict now that the 2023 election is over.
