Before the election next year, the Edo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress warned party officials against endorsing candidates for governor. It also threatened sanctions for anyone who disobeyed the order.
When the party leaders met with Hon. Ehiozuwa Agbonayinma, a potential governor candidate, at the party secretariat on Wednesday, state APC deputy chairman Jaret Tenebe issued the warning in Benin, the state’s capital.
He told Agbonayinma that by showing up to notify the group of his aim following his session, he had made a good first impression.
In his earlier address to the party executives, Agbonayinma urged their support for his nomination as a candidate of the party, claiming that he had been mentored by the state’s former governor, Adams Oshiomhole, who he claimed carried out his duties in all three of the state’s senatorial districts without bias.
