Teachers have been urged to appreciate the efforts made by the Federal Government to reposition the teaching profession as Nigeria today joins the rest of the globe in commemorating globe Teachers’ Day 2023.
At the 2023 commemoration on Thursday in Abuja, the Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, stated that the day is set aside to recognize teachers for their crucial contributions to the advancement of society and mankind.
This year’s commemoration is centered around the idea of “The teachers we need for the Education we want: Global imperative to reverse teachers shortage.”
Teachers can now retire at 65 years old or after 40 years of service, whichever comes first, according to Mamman, who said that some of the promises made to them had been kept.
The salaries of instructors had since been added to the first line of charges for prompt payment, he continued.
