A suspended Assistant Superintendent of Police named Drambi Vandi was found guilty and given a death-by-hanging sentence by a Lagos State High Court sitting in Tafawa Balewa Square on Monday for the hanging death of a lawyer from Lagos named Bolanle Raheem.
He was sentenced by Justice Ibironke Harrison after being found guilty of killing the pregnant lawyer.
According to the judge, the criminal should be hanged by the neck till he passes away.
On December 25, 2022, Raheem was shot by Vandi, a member of the Ajiwe Police Station in Ajah, Lagos State, as she was returning from a trip with her family.
The Lagos Island Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association has, in the meantime, expressed joy over the conviction of the assassin who killed one of its members.
