Rev. Fr. Faustinus Gundu’s passing has been confirmed by the Benue State Police Command.
It was stated that the parish priest of St. Joseph Catholic Church Jootar in the state’s Ukum Local Government Area passed away on Thursday in an unexplained manner.
The Rev. Fr. allegedly slumped and passed away, according to one version of the incident, while another stated that the Catholic priest was killed by lightning.
However, it was learned that the late Fr. Gundu had spread a towel outside and was on his way out to get it when the heavens unleashed the deluge.
He stumbled and fell while hurrying outside to grab the towel, banging his head on a hard surface.
The priest endured the rain for as long as it lasted because no one was present to assist him at the time of the incident, according to an unnamed source.
Apparently, he passed away by the time anybody learned about the occurrence.
