The Ondo State House of Assembly has declared that, contrary to prior media reports, the impeachment proceedings against Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the deputy governor, have not been suspended.
The House halted the impeachment procedure after receiving a communication from the state’s chief judge, Justice Olusegun Odusola, informing it that he was unable to form a panel to investigate the allegations against the deputy governor in accordance with a court order, according to Mr. Olatunji Oshati, chairman of the House Committee on Information.
The House, however, reiterated through its attorney, Mr. Femi Emodamori, that it had not paused the procedure and that it would go to its natural conclusion.
This was stated in a statement made on Saturday by the attorney speaking on behalf of the Assembly.
