Minister confirms plans to work with retired physicians and others

Professor Ali Pate, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, claims that the Federal Government has established provisions for retired medical professionals to be re-engaged on a contractual basis in non-administrative jobs.

After visiting the National Hospital Abuja, he answered questions from reporters on Saturday in Abuja and revealed this.

He claims that doing this will help to close the human resource deficit that the health industry is currently experiencing due to a variety of factors, including the “brain drain” of clinical personnel.

According to Pate, a human resource is one of the most crucial ones in the healthcare industry, not just the structure or the machinery.

He claims that thousands of health professionals are working very hard, often under challenging conditions, to deliver services to Nigerians.
The minister declared that the government would make every effort to keep people who are ready to return to the workforce.

However, Pate noted that the problem of replacing departing employees is not a simple one because in the past, some institutions have abused those possibilities.
