The Peoples Democratic Party chapter in Nasarawa State has expressed regret over the alleged impersonation of its executives by suspected APC state members and urged the security services to investigate into the incident right away to identify those responsible.
In the early hours of Friday, a youth organization called Coalition of PDP Youths in Nasarawa State, which claimed to be well-recognized by the party, held a press conference in Lafia and accused the judges of the state’s Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal of declaring the party’s candidate, David Ombugadu, as the winner of the March 18, 2023 elections out of bias against religion.
Comrade Daniel Agbo, the group’s chairman, stated that the most concerning aspect of the tribunal’s decision was that merit had been sacrificed in favor of religious passion. If not, how in the world will you defend such an absurd decision wherein two of the three judges were Christians and sided with their Christian brother and PDP candidate, Hon. David Emmanuel Ombugadu, while the remaining Muslim judge sided with his Muslim brother and APC candidate, Engr. Abdullahi Sule? This is regrettable and unacceptable.
In response to the incident, the PDP Youths Leader in the state, Muhammed Sani, denied knowing the group or its tactics in a statement made accessible to journalists in Lafia on Friday.
