Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s nominee for president in the 2023 presidential election, will be in Imo State on Wednesday for his party’s gubernatorial campaign rally in the state’s Orlu zone.
According to a statement made in Owerri on Tuesday by Chibuikem Diala, Director of Media and Publicity for the LP’s candidate for governor of the state, Athan Achonu, Obi would work with his principal and other party members to persuade the state’s voters to support the LP.
The statement said, “Obi will persuade the people to vote for the Labour Party and its candidate by attending the campaign rally of Senator Athan Achonu, the party’s nominee for governor of Imo State, in Orlu in November.
Through persistent grassroots efforts and his consistently sold-out demonstrations in each of the state’s 27 local government districts, Achonu has managed to amass an unparalleled amount of support from the public throughout the whole state.
In a state where insecurity has pushed the state governor away and compelled him to govern from outside the state, the Labour Party flag bearer’s blueprint for taming the state’s hydra-headed insecurity crisis is widely praised.
“Governor Uzodinma has failed miserably in leading the state and does not have the solution. Achonu is the breath of fresh air that the people need.
“Obi’s affiliation with Achonu demonstrates the legitimacy of the LP candidate and the validity of his ‘Take Back Imo’ platform.
