The Osun State Government has mandated that commercial tricycle operators operating within the state make sure they have legal documentation supporting their business, failing which they risk penalties.
The warning, according to the authorities, was a follow-up to the report that connected certain tricycle operators to illegal activity in the state.
It emphasized that anyone seen riding a tricycle without the required paperwork would be prosecuted for traffic offenses and that unregistered tricycles would henceforth be prohibited from operating in the state.
The government also advised the tricycle operators to make sure they obtain paperwork like hackney permits, roadworthiness certificates, and vehicle licenses before they begin operating in the state, according to a statement made by Mr. Yakubu Adejare, Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation.
