Despite the reforms in the military and security establishment, many people bemoaned the continued level of insecurity in the area. Farmers have been driven from their land, raising the prospect of poverty and starvation, while bandits turned terrorists are still killing, kidnapping, attacking, and displacing women, children, and even adults.
