Marwa - In 2024, NDLEA would assign staff to 774 LGAs JPEG

Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has stated that in 2024, the anti-drug agency will send personnel to all 774 local government areas in the nation in an effort to bolster the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking, particularly in local communities.

In response to the state governor, Dr. Dikko Umaru Radda, who asked for cooperation and the deployment of additional NDLEA officers throughout the entire state of Katsina to address the issue of drug usage and insecurity in the area, he made this statement.

According to him, the next “development is to deploy in the LGAs,” with the Agency’s workforce set to reach 15,000 by the end of the year. As of right now, we have area, state, and zonal commands.

“The drug menace is a huge issue and has destroyed our youths’ and communities’ lives,” he said. It is the biggest threat to public safety, particularly in light of its criminal nature. Before committing any of their crimes, 99% of criminals need to have access to narcotics and be intoxicated. For this reason, the NDLEA has made every effort to conduct “offensive action,” with the management’s and the directorates’ combined backing.
