Officers from the Edo State Police Command have detained a 21-year-old man named Ononomeh Badamasi in connection with the killing of Orumidayo Awolowo, 52, who went to collect money owing to him.
According to reports, the incident took place in the state’s Igarra Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, in the Ogbeh neighborhood.
In an interview on Monday, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, the state police public relations officer, revealed this.
He stated that after receiving a report from the deceased’s brother, who claimed that the suspect had purchased a knife from the deceased but failed to pay the money, and that the incident occurred when the dead requested payment, the suspect was detained by officers from the Igarra Police Division.
The Edo State Police Command has detained Ononomeh Badamasi, according to Nwabuzor, for allegedly killing Orumidayo Awolowo, 52, who went to seek money owing to him.
The deceased was alleged to have fallen and died after a fight between the two, according to the report.
He claimed that when the police arrived on the area, they found that the incident had enraged several young people, who had set fire to three houses and one motorcycle.
