Activist, Detoun, has apologised to the woman who she queried for coming out at 4.30am to do her sweeping job with her 11-year-old daughter in Ikoyi.
A video she posted earlier, showing the moment she accosted the sweeper and rebuked her for allowing her daughter, whom she considered a minor’ to come out as early as 4.30am to help her with sweeping in an estate where she was employed. Adetoun argued that having her daughter join her sweep is child labor which is against the law.
Following the backlash she received for posting the video, Adetoun visited the woman and apologised to her if she felt humiliated by her action. When interrogated, the sweeper said she was being paid N19,500 for her job and left her place in Oworo to Ikoyi to carry out her duties. She mentioned that her husband is out of a job and has to work to fend for her family.
