Godwin Emefiele, a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, is being held by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Less than an hour after he was liberated from the Department of State Services prison, Emefiele was picked up by EFCC agents on Thursday night. He is currently being questioned at the anti-graft agency’s National Headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.
Our correspondent was informed of the incident on Friday morning by a reliable source, who stated that Emefiele is being investigated by the EFCC for alleged improper behavior while he was the governor of the apex bank.
When our correspondent tried to get in touch with Dele Oyewale, the EFCC spokesperson, on Friday, he was unable to provide formal confirmation.
