Tolu Bankole, an APC leader and member of the National Working Committee, congratulated Dapo Abiodun, the governor of Ogun State, on Sunday after the state election complaints tribunal affirmed his victory in the March 18 governorship election.
The leader also thanked the people of Ogun State, the state’s APC branch, and his deputy, Noimot Oyedele-Salako, on their victory.
On Saturday, the tribunal validated Abiodun’s victory as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The petitioner, Ladipupo Adebutu, a candidate for governor on the Peoples Democratic Party’s ballot in the election, and his party, according to the Tribunal Chairman Hamidu Kunaza, failed to establish their case beyond a reasonable doubt.
Due to corruption, noncompliance with the Electoral Act of 2022, and lack of eligibility to have run in the state’s governorship election in 2023, Adebutu urged the tribunal to annul Abiodun’s victory.
Bankole termed the verdict as a revalidation of the people’s mandate to pursue the ‘Igbega Ipinle Ogun’ program of Abiodun’s government until 2027 in a statement released in Abuja on Sunday. The APC leader urged the opposition and the governor’s detractors to strive to ensure that the people receive the benefits of democracy.
