In Otukpo, Benue State, armed robbers broke into three banks on Friday and took off with an amount of money that was not confirmed.
It was reported that at approximately 3:15 pm, the bandits drove into the town and used dynamite to pry open the entrance.
The accused robbers reportedly killed seven people, including police officers and a former council member, while they were conducting business at one of the impacted banks. They allegedly worked for more than an hour.
Otukpo, home to the Idoma and Igede ethnic groups, is recognized as the political center of the Benue South senatorial district.
