Following a professional role conflict involving key Ministries, Departments, and MDAs, members of the Environmental Health Officers Association’s Bayelsa State branch, or EHOAN, have petitioned the state government to overturn the restriction on inspection operations that it imposed almost two years ago.
When he and other association representatives paid a courtesy visit to Alagoa Morris, the Head of Environmental Rights Action/Friends of the Earth Nigeria, Yenagoa office, Tareware Ebikapade, the state chairman of EHOAN, made the request in an attempt to get help in settling the matter.
Ebikapade recalled that in November 2021, all environmental health professionals were instructed to cease fieldwork and inspection activities by state Deputy Governor Lawrence Ehwrudjakpo, in a declaration written by his media assistant, Doubara Atasi.
