Blick Bassy is a Cameroonian singer-songwriter and guitarist. He was born on April 31, 1974, in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Bassy’s music is a fusion of African rhythms, blues, and folk music. He sings in several languages, including Bassa, French, and English.
Bassy began his music career in the early 2000s and has released several albums, including “Léman” (2009), “Hongo Calling” (2011), “Akö” (2015), and “1958” (2019). His album “1958” is a tribute to the Cameroonian anti-colonialist and nationalist leader Ruben Um Nyobé, who was killed in 1958 during the struggle for independence from France.
Bassy’s music has received critical acclaim and has been recognized with several awards, including the RFI Discoveries Award in 2011 and the SACEM Grand Prize for World Music in 2019. He is known for his soulful and melodic music that often addresses social and political issues in Cameroon and Africa.
