Due to his absence from the Amaju Pinnick-organized Warri Again event, Davido was at the heart of a controversy.
Amaju Pinnick, a former president of the Nigerian Football Federation, claimed that the event’s organizers paid Davido $98,000 in addition to $18,000 for a private jet to transport him to Delta State.
Pinnick claimed that after agreeing to the date and taking the cash, Davido did not show up.
In a series of tweets and pictures on his Instagram story, Davido responded to Pinnick, accusing the former NFF president of being a corrupt football official who failed to pay the salary and benefits due to Nigerian sportsmen.
Davido responded to Amaju Pinnick’s claims that he wouldn’t be allowed back to Delta state by saying that no one could stop him from playing anywhere in Nigeria.
Davido apologized to his fans on his Instagram story and said that despite having informed the Warri Again organizers of his inability to attend the event owing to a conflict with his New Zealand concert, they had continued to use his name in promotional materials for the event.
