Alphonso Davies has signed a new contract with Bayern Munich, ending Real Madrid’s long-term interest. The deal runs until the end of the 2029-30 season, potentially extending his stay at the club to 11 years.
Real Madrid had been eager to sign Alphonso Davies, 24, either through a transfer agreement with Bayern Munich or on a free move in the summer. The Canadian international’s previous deal was set to expire in June 2025, and Madrid saw him as part of a defensive overhaul that could also include Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold.
However, Bayern pushed to retain Davies, offering him an improved contract, which he ultimately accepted. Sporting director Christoph Freund highlighted Davies’ growth into one of the world’s top full-backs and his commitment to staying in Munich, reinforcing Bayern’s stature in international football.
