The Peoples Democratic Party, South-East Zone, urged members to band together in order to support senator Samuel Anyanwu, the party’s nominee for governor, on Saturday ahead of the governorship election in Imo State on November 11.
The call was made following the South-East Zonal Executive of the party’s Friday meeting in Enugu.
At the conference, the party’s zonal leadership overwhelmingly proposed Hon. Sunday Udeh-Okoye, a former PDP National Youth Leader, to be the new National Secretary of the organization.
The party’s National Vice Chairman for the South-East Zone, Chief Ali Odefa, briefed reporters on the conclusion of the closed-door meeting and stated that the decision to back Anyanwu was made collectively. He also stated that the party would make every effort to secure its win in the polls.
Additionally, according to Odefa, a resolution was voted to designate Udeh-Okoye as the party’s national secretary, freeing Senator Anyanwu to focus on his Imo State election campaign.
He said that the zonal leadership will re-plan to get the party back on its feet and guarantee that, with dedication and a shared goal, the party would win the Imo governorship election.
