Two Super Eagles players Olanrewaju Kayode and Peter Olayinka were both on target in Thursday’s Europa League games.
Kayode got on the score sheet but his effort was unable to save Sivasspor from losing 2-1 to visiting Maccabi Tel Aviv, in Group I of the Europa League on Thursday.
Kayode shot Sivasspor into the lead in the 55th minute before Dan Biton (pen. 69th minute) and Dor Peretz (74th minute) scored for the visiting Israeli side Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Kayode who has now scored two goals in his second Europa League appearance this season was pulled off in the 75th minute.
In Group C, Nigerian forward Peter Olayinka was the hero for Slavia Prague who battled to a 1-0 win over visiting Bayer Leverkusen.
Olayinka netted the only goal of the game with 10 minutes left for Slavia League’s first win in the group.
Leverkusen were reduced to 10 men following the sending off of Karim Bellarabi in the 22nd minute.
Slavia Prague are third on three points, the same points as the other three clubs in the group.
