Within the states of Abuja and Nasarawa, the Human Papillomavirus vaccine has been administered to around 500 schoolgirls by the Federal Government in cooperation with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, the United Nations Children’s Fund, the World Health Organization, and some development partners.
This comes after the HPV vaccination was included in the regular immunization schedule for girls between the ages of nine and fourteen. As a result, the initial phase of the immunization featured a five-day mass vaccination campaign in communities and schools throughout 16 states.
On Thursday, the immunization campaign was conducted at the Government Secondary School in Bakin-Ado, Karu, Nasarawa state, and the Junior Secondary School in Asokoro, Abuja.
The HPV vaccine, according to Pharm Luka Panya Baba, President of Esu Karu and the Karu Local Government Traditional Council, is life-saving.
