Review of Nigerians abroad
Taiwo Awoniyi
Awoniyi continued his rich vein of form by scoring Union Berlin’s only goal in their 1-1 draw against Stuttgart on Sunday.
The Nigeria forward opened the scoring for the visitors in the 31st minute but his strike was cancelled out late in the encounter.
The former Liverpool striker has now equalled his best tally in a league season with seven goals in nine games for the Iron Ones.
Odion Ighalo
The former Super Eagles striker continued his fine goalscoring run in Saudi Arabia with a brace on Friday.
Ighalo scored to give Al Shabab a 2-0 win, and he extended his tally to eight goals after nine league matches this season.
Chidera Ejuke
The 23-year-old scored the equaliser for CSKA Moscow in their 3-1 comeback victory over Krylya Sovetov in a Russian Premier League game.
Ejuke’s effort came a week after he grabbed the match-winning goal in Ural.
The pacy winger has now contributed four goals and two assists in the Russian top-flight in this campaign.
Emmanuel Dennis
Dennis came off the bench to inspire Watford to a 5-2 victory over Everton on Saturday.
The Nigeria international provided two assists before sealing maximum points for the Hornets at Goodison Park.
David Okereke
The Club Brugge forward ended his Serie A goal drought in Venezia’s 3-1 defeat to Sassuolo on Saturday.
Okereke put the visitors ahead with his second goal in the Italian top-flight this term.
