A bank was looted, a police station was attacked, and many police officers were killed in Benue State on Friday. The Nigeria Police Force later disclosed that two suspects were slain during the pursuit of the armed bandits.
The violent bank robbery that occurred in Otukpo town on Friday afternoon claimed the lives of three police officers, Chief Superintendent John Adikwu, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Otukpo, and three civilians.
The police high command announced on Saturday that it has also started a thorough and coordinated endeavor to apprehend those responsible for the offenses.
While noting that the Otukpo attack was an early warning sign of the ember month challenges, which are frequently characterized by bank robberies and other related crimes, Egbetokun has also placed all police commands and formations on red alert in an effort to prevent further deadly attacks on institutions and innocent citizens.
This was disclosed in a statement on Saturday by Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer.
