On Tuesday afternoon in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, a three-person gang of armed robbers stole millions from an unidentified individual while posing as police officers.
The victim, who is claimed to be around 60 years old, was followed by the thieves, who are said to have been brandishing A-K 47 rifles, from a nearby Commercial bank where he had amassed the large sum to the location where he was robbed at gunpoint.
Residents were discussing the incident, which they claimed lasted a few minutes, while still in astonishment when our correspondent arrived on the scene at 6:50 p.m.
It was similar to a movie, according to an eyewitness who wished to remain unnamed.
“The robbers rode a 2016 Toyota Corolla in ash color while donning police gear.”
“I mistook them for police officers. At first, I believed the victim was a yahoo boy advising them to be cautious around him. However, I afterwards realized that they were hooded arm robbers, so I chicly fled the scene.
“They yelled at the victim, who was being followed by FCMB in Murtala and driving a metallic green 2006 Toyota Corolla, to bring the money after he had been ambushed.
“The victim was only observing them. The witness recalled how they brandished the gun at him before robbing the car of millions of dollars’ worth of cash and driving off.
