An armed bandit was neutralized by Nigerian Army troops from the 33 Brigade during an ambush on Friday, October 20, at a designated crossing point in Bura, Ningi Local Government Area, Bauchi State.
This was revealed in a statement released on Saturday on the Nigerian Army’s official X Twitter and signed by Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations.
According to the statement, “the troops, acting on actionable intelligence, laid in wait for the bandits and opened fire, killing one and wounding others, leaving traces of blood.”
One AK-47 gun, fourteen live rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, a cell phone, and a fetish amulet were found by the troops from the bandit. Following the bandits who are running, troops are continuing taking advantage of the surrounding terrain.
“In another operation on the same day, the troops have apprehended a gang of three carjackers along the Bauchi-Jos Highway,” the statement continued. The troopers had been notified by a driver of a stolen Toyota Corolla car with registration number ABJ 343 KL.
“As soon as the alert troops learned of the incident, they set up a fast checkpoint on the highway and apprehended the offenders.
