The Katsina State Police Command reported on Monday that between June 1 and September 30, 2023, its personnel killed five alleged kidnappers.
It was revealed that throughout the time period, the operatives freed 171 kidnapped people.
At the police headquarters during the parading of some suspects, the state police public relations officer, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, said this on behalf of the state commissioner of police, Aliyu Musa.
The command, among other things, seized 12 stolen cars and motorcycles, over 600 rustled animals, four AK-47 rifles, six locally produced firearms, 517 live rounds of ammo, and 12 stolen vehicles, according to Aliyu.
He stated that during the time period, 853 reported cases resulted in the arrest of 1,005 individuals, and that 395 of those reported cases were now being tried in various courts.
The command’s spokesman also provided a breakdown of the suspects, listing them as 90 suspected rapists, 73 murder suspects, 82 kidnappers, and 53 suspected armed robbers.
