The Federal Government has underlined the necessity of digital skills among youth in an effort to offset the rising unemployment rates.
The Respetech Human Resources Technology (HR-Tech) Initiative was officially launched yesterday in Abuja by Abiodun Essiet, the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Community Engagement for the North-Central region.
According to youth data given by the National Bureau of Statistics in 2022, 53.40% of Nigerian youngsters are unemployed.
According to Essiet, “This project will play a significant role in reducing unemployment difficulties by empowering our kids with crucial digital skills that will help them compete in the global job market.
Our children frequently lack the skills needed to take advantage of these opportunities. We have several difficulties that call for digital solutions.
Essiet also mentioned that the federal government is funding empowerment initiatives meant to provide people the digital skills and tools they need to succeed after the empowerment period.
She thinks that the Respetech HR Technology offers a viable answer to the critical problem of unemployment in Nigeria.
The project’s creators, Social Good Fund, have said that it will provide Nigerian graduates with crucial digital skills, connect them with opportunities abroad, and close the talent gap between tech talent and employers.
The initiative’s advantages were described by Oyewole Joledo, the Country Director of Social Good.
He clarified that the initiative’s objective is to lower the nation’s unemployment rate while working with prominent businesses and individuals to promote and utilize the advantages of technology for young people in Nigeria.
