Prior to the November 11 governorship elections in Bayelsa, Kogi, and Imo, the Independent National Electoral Commission has issued a warning to political groups, asking them to refrain from disseminating false information.
This warning was issued in an Abuja statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Rotimi Oyekanmi, the chairman of INEC.
This was in response to the Social Democratic Party’s claim that INEC was manipulating the state governorship election by setting up Bimodal Voter Accreditation System devices at Government House, Lokoja.
Oyekanmi clarified, however, that teams sent from the national headquarters in Abuja configured the BVAS concurrently and only in INEC offices in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi.
“It is urged that the public ignore this story as false information.
