Glasgow Rangers manager, Steven Gerrard has lamented Joe Aribo’s slow recovery from injury ahead of this weekend’s Scottish Premier League tie against Hamilton Academicals, Glasgow live can report.
The Super Eagles attacking midfielder was missing in Rangers’ last two games against Livingston and Kilmarnock and coach Gerrard wants his young asset to return to full fitness rather than risk the young Nigerian against Hamilton this weekend.
With an International break set for next week, Aribo is expected to return in good time for Rangers’ home clash with Dundee United. His compatriots, Leon Balogun has been certified fit for this weekend’s game but it remains to be seen how Gerrard intends to deploy Leon against their host“Jermain Defoe and Joe Aribo won’t make the Hamilton game. Both should be ready for the game after.
“Leon Balogun is back and trained fully and will train again fully this morning(Friday). We’ll assess his situation before we make a decision in terms of the squad.“Allan McGregor has had no reaction and has trained fully all week. So two bits of positive news, but unfortunately Jermain and Joe won’t make it for the weekend.” Gerrard told Glasgow live.
