Claims that the Nigeria National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd. intends to relocate its corporate headquarters from Abuja to Lagos have been denied.
When he appeared before an ad hoc committee of the House of Representatives on Friday for an investigative hearing on the accusation of improper acquisition of OVH Energy by NNPC, the Group Chief Executive Officer, Mele Kyari, made the reply.
Despite the company’s current status as a private corporation registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission, Kyari stated that in contrast to the petition filed against them, they had no plans to relocate their headquarters to Lagos.
According to him, the registered headquarters of NNPC Ltd is in Abuja.
But he said that the allegations might be related to the fact that 70% of the company’s operations are carried out in Lagos.
He said that NNPC Ltd. had consolidated its activities and deployed the appropriate personnel to the appropriate locations.
He said that in every merger and acquisition, the prevailing culture, like service, must be allowed to take over, and that the NNPC Ltd. was doing just that.
