A Lagos resident, Olawale Ogunbadejo, has been remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Centre by a Magistrate’s Court for illegal waste disposal on a public road.
The court ordered his remand on Wednesday, pending a trial scheduled for June 26. This was disclosed on social media by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s Senior Special Assistant on Print Media, Wale Ajetunmobi.
“Mr Olawale Ogunbadejo, caught disposing of refuse on the road, has just been remanded in Kiri-Kiri Prison by the Magistrate’s Court till June 26,” he wrote on X
Ogunbadejo, who resides at No. 25, Ajiboye Street, Alapere, in the Ketu area of Lagos, was caught on camera on dumping waste on the Alapere Link Bridge on Wednesday, May 21.
The state government earlier on Wednesday called for help in locating Ogunbadejo and promised a reward for anyone that can help with useful information that can lead to his arrest.
He was later apprehended in a joint operation carried out by the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) and the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), also known as KAI.
Yesterday, 20th May 2025, one of @Lawma_gov’s volunteer officers captured this video of an unknown offender in the act of dumping refuse illegally at the location.
Just Look at a normal human being carrying waste in his car to dump on the road.
This happened at Ketu Alapere.… pic.twitter.com/LhVYNXySze— Jubril A. Gawat (@Mr_JAGs) May 21, 2025
