A Nigerian lawyer has shared shocking details about a man who divorced his wife in court due to excessive nagging, citing Section 15 of the Marriage Act.
The lawyer made this revelation in a post on her popular TikTok page, expressing her disbelief that nagging could actually be considered grounds for divorce.
She recounted a case she witnessed in court where a man filed for divorce because of his wife’s constant nagging, and the court granted the divorce.
She explained: “I never thought that could stand on its own as a ground under Section 15, Subsection C of the Matrimonial Causes Act.”
“The respondent has behaved in such a way that the petitioner is not reasonably expected to continue living with the respondent.”
“The man filed for divorce because of constant nagging, which affected his health. The court confirmed that this could indeed constitute grounds for the marriage to be considered as having broken down.”
Her post sparked a wave of reactions, with many concerned individuals flooding the comment section to share their thoughts on the matter.
