Despite the claims of four fatalities made by the locals, Frederick Ade Ogidan, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, who verified the incident, stated that no lives were lost in the collision and that the victims were critically hurt and receiving medical attention in the hospital.

Due to the commotion, security personnel from the state service and the police were sent to the scene. They sealed off the area surrounding the Ilorin palace and barred the routes to the markets in Oja Oba, Isale Oja, Idi Ape, and Ago.
