On Monday, Oyebisi Bolaji, a police inspector, described to the Ikeja Sexual Offenses and Domestic Violence Court in Lagos, how Monday Daniel, a 40-year-old man, reportedly violated his neighbor’s 13-year-old granddaughter.
Bolaji, a prosecution witness brought before the court by Olufunke Adegoke, the prosecuting attorney, testified that the defendant defiled the youngster living with her grandmother in the Elere Agege region of the state.
The witness further reported to Justice Abiola Soladoye that Uche Ube, a different neighbor, had seen the defendant in the act and had called the police.
The prosecutor informed the court at the defendant’s arraignment that the offense was committed on October 11, 2021.
She claimed that the offense violated Section 137 of the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015.
Nonetheless, the accused entered a not guilty plea to the accusation that was brought against him.
In order to continue the trial, Judge Soladoye remanded the defendant and postponed the case to November 23, 2023.
