The suspect planned with his friend to kidnap his girlfriend and collect ransom for her release.
“A 30-year-old man simply identified as Ahmed is currently on the run for allegedly conniving with one Uchenna Daniels to abduct his (Ahmed’s) girlfriend, Hannatu Kabri.
Kabri was abducted in Abuja on March 31 and taken to Lagos. She was released after her parents paid a N2m ransom.
Lagos police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin said a manhunt launched after the case was reported led to the arrest of Daniels. The police are now making efforts to arrest Ahmed and one Biliya who allegedly participated in the crime.
Hundeyin said;
“On 31st of March, 2022 at about 1400hrs (2pm), intelligence gathered revealed that one Uchenna Daniels, 30, kidnapped one Miss. Hannatu Kabri, 22, in Abuja and fled to Lagos.
“Operatives of the command tracked and arrested the suspect, Uchenna Daniels, at Allen Avenue, Ikeja. The suspect revealed that the victim’s boyfriends one Ahmed and one Biliya planned the kidnap with him and collected a ransom of N2 million in Kaduna through a Bureau de Change from the parents of the victim before she was released.
“He added that they used a toy gun to commit the crime. Investigation is ongoing to arrest other fleeing suspects.”
