A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between Ogun State Health Insurance Agency and Crawford University, Igbesa, provides health insurance coverage for the staff and students of the university.
Dr. Afolabi Dosumu, the Executive Secretary of the Agency, said during the agreement’s signing that the arrangement was in line with the Tertiary Institution Social Health Insurance Programme, which is a crucial part of the State’s efforts to guarantee universal health care.
Dosumu emphasized that the partnership with the institution resulted from Governor Dapo Abiodun’s sincere desire to establish an atmosphere that would support the insurance company in its efforts to enhance public welfare.
Although his office is actively pursuing enrollment in TISHIP at a number of other universities, the Executive Secretary confirmed that Crawford University is the state’s first private university to collaborate with the government on the program.
Dosumu praised the university for its dedication to the health and welfare of its students, but he also promised that OGSHIA would do everything possible to uphold the terms of the agreement. He stated that students would be covered for emergency medical issues, including accidents that happen off-campus and outside the state.
He also assured that the university would receive funding from the insurance pool to hire a resident physician in the future and that the posting of corps members, who are physicians, to the school’s clinic would be approved.
